Finally a new post!  Its not that I haven't been doing projects lately, its just that I can't make them take and post images of themselves. 
This is from a "Mad Men" themed wedding in August.  The bride is a superhero who planned and coordinated everything (and even helped with the sewing of the dresses) and it all turned out really well.
I made all the dresses you see here (with Ashley's help).

 

Dress for a July wedding

This was made for an attendee of an "Alice in Wonderland" themed wedding.
The first photo is without the removable striped underskirt.

Tango dress for Ari

This is it - a month and a half of work and more fittings than I care to admit to. It is done and looks great, I hope to get a picture of it in action at some point. She needed it for a competition in San Bruno this month. This is my first attempt at asymmetrical straps with a very low back.

second and third simple varations

There was only enough fabric for tunics for these two. For the second round, I pulled in the shoulder neck point and dropped the center front neck into a V.

I love the simplicity of this pattern. Three pieces total. No Shoulder seams, belt carriers built in so one doesn't lose her sash and a summery sort of feel to the silhouette.
pink/olive/orange is the first variation.

third variation

This is the third variation of the same dress in a knit hombre fabric cut on the bias.

Variations on a theme

I copied a dress for a client and made a few changes to it.

The first version is the navy turquoise and lime dress.




































The second version has been lengthened and the neck dropped and armholes raised.

Monkey - I accidentally deleted the photos of the headpiece so this is all I have for the moment.....
Back of the red vest with long curly tail - I couldn't make the wire straight so I weighted the tail with a heavy washer which made for some great movement when the actress was in costume.

Birthday dress for Leslie

I made this to match the Carin room at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo for her birthday. The room is decorated entirely in pink and gold and yes, that is the lower half of a cherub above her head.

The parameters were animal print and pink. I used a vintage pattern and made a few alterations to it. I added the inverted box pleat at the front, lowered the neckline and made the sleeves fuller with a slit along the sides.

Heidi approved

January seemed to be for some reason the month of alterations and pet projects (literally, will you make something for my dog). She was on the blue bed till I came by and plunked this down. She sniffed and snuffled, then sniffed some more, turned around three times then laid down thereby signaling her approval.

...And now for something completely different....

This is a coat for a dog. First ever dog coat I've made. I decided to jazz it up a bit and using inspiration from Seminal Semana on Tumblr came up with this:

Nunway pics

pictures from the final fitting with Sister Mary Ralph (Mark). I'm so proud of how well it fits and how well everything works together. I had such a great time working on this with Mark and I feel that it really highlights both of our aesthetics. I am doubly proud that all of the pieces can be combined and will coordinate well with other pieces he already has.
The show was a blast and it was so great to see all the different variations on a theme.

Mary Ralph at Noel Noir

Upper portion of the habit for Sister Mary Ralph for Nunway2 at Noel Noir last night. I will be posting more pictures as I get them. I am so proud of how this turned out. Definitely more simple than most but it fit well and showcases both our styles. Luckily we have much overlap in the aesthetics department. Such a fun project and what a great show last night.

Red Brocade Dress

Another version of the vinage boatneck dress I have recently fallen in love with.
Made of Red and gold brocade, fully lined with a side zipper and pockets.

Skirt for Irene

This lovely silk taffeta skirt can convert from an ankle length full skirt into an above the knee bustled confection. Double faced satin ribbon bows at the waistband give it a little sheen and some extra interest around the waist.
The client was looking for her inner goth fairy/ballerina fantasy to be fulfilled and I do believe this fits the bill.........
She's picking it up tomorrow so we'll see....

Men's shirt collar

Of course I didn't get a picture of the shirt before the client picked it up but I did get a picture of the collar with openings for collar stays. This is the first time I have made a nice tailored men's dress shirt and I am rather proud of it.

Thanksgiving frock

I can't claim to have made this but with some help I fit it to me and trimmed it. It is a great pea green sixties fancy dress - I got it with shreds where sleeves used to be and it was about 2-3" too big all around the bodice. It will be just as comfy as sweats once turkey coma sets in and looks a million times better than sweats. I also made a coordinating neck ruff of the left over trim.
